Curious about what it is like to play at Shannon Lake? Check out this video.
The storage locker was a gift from the city but it is a bit quirky. Please watch the video above in order to understand how you can unlock the container. If you don't watch the video you probably won't figure it out on your own!!!!
The portable nets take less than 5 minutes for one person to assemble. This video will highlight a couple of tricks that will make it easier to do so.
Key Understandings
You will be responsible for accessing and assembling the club’s portable nets which are stored in a locked storage container that is located at the entry to the courts on the parking lot side. We have detailed instructions including videos on how to do that which you can see on our website.
If you have finished playing and the group who has booked the court after you has not arrived before you want to leave then it is your responsibility to disassemble the net and put it back into the storage container
If you are the last group on the courts then you need to lock up the container once you have put your net away even if the HMC calendar indicates that players are scheduled to arrive later that day
IF members of the public show up at the courts and want to play on Courts 1 and 2 (the two courts closest to the parking lot entry gate) please explain to them that they are welcome to use our nets but they are tied to the schedule of our members who are currently at the courts. In other words when the last club members need to leave so too do the members of the public (who will of course be expected to put away the nets that they are borrowing)
Our Hold My Court calendar doesn’t really align with the court times that the city has given us. The HMC calendar shows that the SL courts are available starting at 8:30 but the truth is that you can start playing at 8:00 am. Similarly the HMC calendar shows that the last club time ends at 11:30 but the school wouldn’t be there before noon so you have until at least that time to finish your session. In other words you get 2 hour bookings at SL instead of the 90 minute bookings at Boucherie. NOTE: this might change once school is over for the year.
There will be NO Court Hosts scheduled at Shannon Lake. This is purely a self-serve operation so please act accordingly
